After a string of singles which appeared on every full moon of every month of 2016, the Avant-Pop outfit known as JPTR, is finally releasing its self titled debut.
Although the material technically isn’t new, as it’s been published in some shape or form previously (mostly through alternate versions and mixes), what makes it revolutionary is how it finally exposes the architecture of a gorgeously grotesque audiovisual world which this collective has been meticulously creating. The cornucopia of sound and vision which might’ve appeared jarring out of context, now presents itself as a thoroughly thought out multi-universe. What JPTR proposes is a return to a challenging, art inflected type of Pop. There’s plenty on this record to be deciphered and chewed on, yet any of these songs can just as easily be enjoyed for their primal drive and deeply penetrating harpoon-like hooks.
