Licia Chery — Inspiration

LICIA CHERY enters into the music world at age 6, when she begs her parents to enroll at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève. There are no musicians in the family but Licia is guided in a world that she believes she already knows. Everything seems familiar to her and she feels that this new language is hers. Without her realizing it, her dream began...

Her first steps on stage are at school when she offers to choreograph and teach her classmates to perform on stage. Over the years, they will dance on hits from Mariah Carey to Destiny's Child, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, Toni Braxton or Missy Eliott. In 1998, Licia performs "The Power of Love" by Celine Dion in front of family, friends and teachers. She understands that she’s home when on stage. The spell is cast, LICIA CHERY is a singer!

Everything then connects. The first album composed for school at 17, the second album composed during her university classes at age 20, her trip to North America leading to Montreal and New York and allowing her to perform there, her coming back to Switzerland at 22, and her incounter with Pierre Fouqueray, her guitarist who follows her on stage since then...
The year 2009 is marked by winning the competition for young talents launched by the Caribana Festival, and the opening act of singer Patrice.
The year 2010 is marked by obtaining 100,000 € on the crowdfunding website. This feat is achieved in 75 days and allows Licia to sign with the record label My Major Company for 3 years, and to release her debut album "Blue Your Mind" two years later.

After touring in Switzerland and France to promote "Blue Your Mind" in 2012 and 2013, Pierre Fouqueray and LICIA CHERY went to Canada to record the next Licia’s album, INSPIRATION that they composed together.
INSPIRATION will be released in 2015, the year LICIA CHERY’s 30th birthday. That album, which represents a mixture of strength and sweetness is a nod to the artist's personality for whom the dream started almost 25 years from now ...
